Students are fully comprehensive in ability with most coming from 6 very successful main feeder primary schools and an increasing number of others come from primary schools at some distance. We have the highest expectations of our students in all aspects of school life. The range and extent of the extra-curricular experiences we offer them is second to none.
Whilst enjoying and benefiting from our Maths and Computing specialist status, our curriculum remains broad and diverse offering, for example, Dance and Drama as separate subjects for all in KS3 and as options up to A Level. Our achievements in the Performing Arts generally are such that we were awarded Arts Mark Gold in 2004. We were deemed the most successful non-selective school nationally, delivering A Level Music Technology in 2005. We currently hold the Sports Mark and our students achieve highly in competitive team sports and individually. We are the only school in Cheshire to be designated an Oracle Academy and this course is popular as an enrichment activity in our flourishing 6th which offers over 30 A Level and Vocational courses. Our ICT network extends to nearly 400 PCs in a robust and up to date network. All students are ‘autonomous users' of the key software packages by the end of KS3 with many electing to continue to study a range of ICT courses 14-19.
The school has some long established international links and others that are newer and are developing in exciting ways. We have link schools in Germany, France, The Gambia, Chile, China, Australia and Singapore. Staff benefit from involvement in Teachers International Professional Development opportunities and the school is an active member of iNet, the international arm of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust; an organisation with whom we enjoy close working relationships and a range of benefits. We believe there is much to learn from having a global perspective on educational developments.
The community of Congleton quite rightly has the highest expectations regarding the level and quality of educational provision and Eaton Bank's Ofsted inspection (April 2010) confirmed that such quality exist at this school. We enjoy the support of our community and this will be increasigly important as schools move into a broader ‘community learning' role. Our acquisition of a former Youth Centre on site and its conversion to a Community Learning Centre, used widely by the community, is just one example of this.
